Honestly, I went to American Dream recently (it's a mall in NJ) and was so bowled over by the relentless excess of mall consumer culture. What a bizarre concept - floating around this huge building (it has every store you can think of plus a roller coaster, a ski slope and a ferris wheel) where every inch is designed to make you spend money and forget the outside world entirely. It's very much like a casino. And I like it not because I want to shop there (I don't. At all) but because it's relentless in its transparency about how it wants to make you feel (inadequate). I feel similarly about Vegas and Miami. They're all unapologetic about their crassness.

An interesting experiment would be to make a note every time we interact with water, purposefully or not. Today it's raining, I'm drinking some San Benedetto, I washed my face this morning and I will take a shower later. Those are just the interactions off the top of my head. Hand washing! Berkey refilling! It's an inescapable element. Good thing its good for us.

Probably wake up earlier. Probably not look at any internet stuff for the first hour.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about male celebrities that exclusively date younger women and my theory is that the moment someone becomes famous (like really, really famous) they stop maturing because there are teams of people taking care of everything. So the age they became famous is where they're stuck, leading them to date people that match that development level. The patriarchy dictates (basically) that a man's value is only in his professional success so these famous actors become stunted, under-realized and emotionally underdeveloped people that will never be able to date older women.
